Studio Policy

  1. Please be well prepared and attend lessons on time. Students are expected to have the appropriate course material ready for lessons.
  2. The student has to be asymptomatic to take in-person lessons. Teacher reserves the right to leave if student shows any signs of being sick, and lesson will be forfeited.
  3. The student should schedule practice times at least 5 days a week. The student has to focus on achieving practice goals set by the teacher.
  4. Student’s performance will be assessed regularly based on lesson behavior and the student’s playing. The studio’s rewards program will help the student stay motivated and focused on practice goals.
  5. The student should have or plan to have an adequate acoustic piano for proper technical and musical development.
  6. Currently, in-person lessons are given at the student’s home with safety precautions of mask wearing and hand sanitizing before lesson. The teacher and the students must follow the COVID-19 protocols.
  7. For Zoom lessons, it will be ideal if the student has a large screen laptop and strong internet connection. Because Zoom piano lessons rely heavily on listening, it is important to provide a quiet and less distracting environment during lesson.
  8. Students should have access on Google Classroom, audio and video devices for watching practice videos, playing with accompaniment during practice and recording practices.
  9. Excused absences include illness, adverse weather and extreme emergency. In-person makeup lessons for excused absences are only held on specified off weeks (during the weeks of Thanksgiving, Christmas and Spring Break). No refunds will be made if the student is unable to attend the makeup lesson(s). All other reasons (conflicts, vacation etc) for canceling are considered unexcused absences, and the lesson will be forfeited with no makeup.
  10. Lessons missed by the student due to no show (after a 15-minute wait) are forfeited.
  11. Credits will be issued if:
    • the teacher has to cancel a lesson,
    • there are internet or power outage issues for online lessons
  12. No lessons will be held during the following public holidays and school break:
    1. New Year’s Day
    2. Spring Break (reserved for makeup lessons)
    3. Memorial Day
    4. Independence Day
    5. Labor Day
    6. Thanksgiving Week (Mon, Tues, Wed reserved for makeup lessons)
    7. Christmas Week (reserved for makeup lessons)
  13. Payment is due on the first lesson of the month.
  14. Cancellation can occur at any time. Please inform the teacher of the termination and she will finish the lessons paid for the month.
  15. Videos and photos of students’ performances, identified only by their first names, may be posted on our website and social media.
  16. The studio operates all year round. The student should attend at least six lessons to stay off the waiting list.
