- The studio operates year-round. An annual registration fee of $20 per family will be due in September to cover recital booking charges and subscription to online theory games. Students will attend at least 40 lessons – 34 of which are scheduled in the academic year (September to May) and the remaining 6 in the summer.
- Lessons are held at students’ homes. Please ensure the learning environment is free from auditory and visual distractions.
- Students are expected to attend lessons well prepared and on time.
- Students should be respectful, cooperative and have a good learning attitude.
- Students have to be asymptomatic to take lessons.
- Students should practice at least 5 days a week focusing on achieving practice goals.
- Students’ weekly progress will be shared on Google Classroom. Students will need access to Google Classroom for viewing musical performances, learning videos or accompaniments shared by the teacher.
- The studio’s rewards program helps the students stay motivated and focused on practice goals.
- Students should practice on an adequate acoustic piano for proper technical and musical development.
- Two recitals will be held in November and May at Resurrection Lutheran Church in Ankeny. Participation in recitals is dependent on the student’s attendance and practice.
- Students are encouraged to take the Con Brio online exams when they are ready.
- Excused absences include illness, adverse weather and extreme emergency. The first week of January and the last week of May are makeup weeks for excused absences. Students without makeup will take those weeks off. All other reasons (conflicts, vacation etc) for canceling are considered unexcused absences, and no makeup is provided.
- Lessons missed by the student due to no show (after a 15-minute wait) are forfeited.
- A credit will be issued if the teacher has to cancel a lesson and the student is unable to attend a makeup lesson.
- No lessons will be held during the following public holidays and school break:
- New Year’s Day
- Spring Break
- Memorial Day
- Independence Day
- Labor Day
- Thanksgiving Week
- Christmas Week
- Payment is due on the first lesson of the month. Between September and June, the tuition is a monthly flat rate. A $20 fee will incur for the 2nd late payment.
- Cancellation can occur at any time. Please inform the teacher of the termination and she will finish the lessons paid for the month.
- Videos and photos of students’ performances, identified only by their first names, may be posted on our website and social media.
